FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DOES WAXING//SUGARING HURT?

Well it doesn't tickle. Based on client feedback and our own experience, the first time is always the worst - simply because the hair roots are at their strongest and thickest. By waxing every 4-6 weeks (different for each person), roots do not have time to become as strong or thick and waxing will become less painful. For folks with sensitive skin, we suggest popping a pain reliever 20-30 minutes before waxing to make your experience more comfortable.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER MY WAX//SUGAR?

For most waxing newbies, the build up of expectations can be the worst part! Most of our first-time clients tell us the pain was not nearly as bad as they anticipated. Some clients do experience mild redness, tenderness, some swelling, more so with individuals who have sensitive skin, allergies and/or low-pain tolerances.

WILL I BE TOTALLY HAIRLESS AFTER MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

It could happen, but most likely not. It is most common to feel a bit of stubble after your first few appointments. This happens most frequently with clients receiving leg waxes, those who have coarse or dark hair or have a history of shaving. Human hair grows in concurrent cycles which determine length, texture and thickness. Because these cycles last about 28 days, it takes a few appointments for all hair in any area to grow long enough to be completely removed by the wax.

HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR HAVE TO BE?

Most people need about 3-4 weeks of growth for hair to be long enough to wax. Anything before 3 weeks will likely not be substantial enough for removal and will be a waste of your time and money.

WHAT KIND OF WAX DO YOU USE? DO YOU DOUBLE DIP?

We use a variety of strip waxes ,hard waxes, and sugar that are safe for all skin types. And NEVER A DOUBLE DIP!!! New stick for EVERY dip, NO exception!

WHAT IS SUGARING?

Body Sugaring is an all-natural form of hair removal using a  paste made from lemon, sugar and water.  The paste is molded onto the skin against the direction of the hair growth, then quickly pulled off - removing the sugar paste, extracting unwanted hair and collecting dead skin cells.  Compared to wax, body sugar allows for the hair to be extracted in the direction of its growth means less breakage and discomfort.   BONUS:  waste is reduced because there are no sticks or strips.

CAN I WAX//SUGAR WHILE ON MY PERIOD?

YOU CAN!  And we don't mind at all!!!!  As long as you have in a cup or fresh tampon we are good to go!

PRO TIP*. Schedule your wax the the week after your period you will be less sensitive .

CAN I WAX//SUGAR WHILE PREGNANT?

YOU CAN!

The earlier you start waxing in your pregnancy the better off your wax appointments will be towards the end of your pregnancy! Please know that you will experience more sensitivity and possibly more ingrown hairs due to hormone fluctuations and increased blood flow.

**Although it maybe tempting - Starting your waxing journey in your 3rd trimester can be VERY uncomfortable.  We DO NOT recommend it, especially if you have spent years shaving.

WHEN SHOULD I GET WAXED//SUGARED IF I HAVE A SPECIAL EVENT // VACATION COMING UP?

We recommend you plan in advance and get waxed at least 2 times prior to your upcoming event. This is especially true if you have never been waxed before, or are waxing a new area. This is beneficial so all of your hairs will be in the same growth cycle and also to see how your body reacts. Other than that 2 days prior will be perfectly fine.

I AM IN TRANSITION FROM MALE TO FEMALE OR FEMALE TO MALE. HOW SHOULD I BOOK MY APPOINTMENT?

First of all, congrats!!! Our first and top priority is for you to be as comfortable as possible -- before, during, and after your appointment. We ask that you let us know about your journey when you schedule your appointment so we can schedule you with the proper technician.
